This is Carol’s top ten places to shop on Anna Maria Island.  If you are a shopper then this list will help plan your Anna Maria Island Vacation.  Shop ’til you drop on Anna Maria Island!

These might just be the top ten places to shop on Anna Maria Island!

1. Beach Bum’s
Not only does Beach Bum’s have clothing and gifts, but they also have amazing rentals. As featured in Southern Living Magazine, and voted by the AMI Sun’s Readers’ Choice Awards, Beach Bums is a great equipment rental shop on Anna Maria Island.  They are located in Anna Maria City and pretty proud of their meticulously maintained, rental fleet of bikeskayaks, paddle boards, surreys, sunfish sailboats, baby equipment and beach supplies, electric golf carts, and electric bikes!  They even have a marine biologist on staff to conduct kayak eco-tours.

2. Ginny and Jane E’s

Ginny’s and Janie’s is an eclectic large shop located in Anna Maria City.  They carry furniture, artwork and have a fairly large store for Anna Maria Island.  There is jewelry, flowers, lighting, just about anything and everything you could imagine.  In the back they have light snacks for breakfast and lunch.  Ginny’s and Janie’s also serve as a local coffee stop with plenty of folks regularly attending the shop to grab a cup of brew.

4. Irene’s Resort Wear
This shop has a long standing reputation of offering ladies resort wear – both casual and evening. However, I go in there mostly to browse their Vera Bradley section and Brighton display. Irene’s is the only retailer offering Brighton products on Anna Maria Island. Jewelry, sunglasses, shoes and handbags – they have a little of everything. Their Vera Bradley section is much larger with bags, towels, paper goods, hats and so much more. Their sales loft has great deals on clothing – a friend recently purchased a beautiful black cocktail dress for 60% off!

5. Sand Dollar
After strolling through Irene’s, right next door is the Sand Dollar. As soon as youTop Ten Shopping list on Anna Maria Island walk in the candles, bath soaps and salts take over your senses. The store is packed with goodies, so make sure to hold your purse close or the hands of small children so as to not knock anything over.

They always have island inspired dinner, glass and stem wear as well as fun serving platters, utensils, napkin rings, etc. The shop keepers use every bit of space for display, so make sure to look all over the walls, in baskets on the floor and ceiling for hanging decorations.

There is a small selection of clothing and shoes in the back and make sure to check out their accessories – headbands, charms and beautiful scarves. I’ve never walked out empty handed.

Shopping is Even Better With Ice Cream!

6. Holy Cow Ice Cream and Gifts
The owners of the Sand Dollar opened this combo ice cream/candy/gift shop a few years ago. My favorite is the mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone. Beware – the double scoop is extremely generous (all the better to walk around the store while eating it). They have a few game areas set up to enjoy while having your treat – checkers, chalk boards, crayons, etc. There are so many fun items in this store it’s hard to see them all on just one visit! They have off-the-wall home décor, funny cocktail napkins and cards, old fashioned games and more. Worth a few visits. Note: they offer a few sugar free flavors as well as the classics.

7. Crowder’s Gifts and Gadgets
Off the island on Manatee Ave about 2 miles is one of my all time favorite places – Crowder’s Gifts and Gadgets. The shop is attached to an ACE Hardware store, so send your guy over there to look at hammers while you browse. Seasonal items are always up front with extremely unique items. Home décor, paper goods, cards, Yankee Candles, Willow Tree, Vera Bradley, Brighton Jewelry, collegtic collectables, switch flops and more. The front counter offers homemade fudge and they are happy to offer a sample. I hate to rush in and out of a place like this and prefer to go when I can stroll all the isles to see what is new. Worth the trip off the island.

Olive Oil and Shopping!  You Bet!

8. Olive Oil Outpost
What a treat for the senses! The Olive Oil Outpost is a new shop that offers a variety of oils, vinegars, spices, coffee and salts. Very unusual and many hard to find gift items or for your own cooking can be found here. There is a small variety of canisters, bottles and serving dishes as well. Bring some fancy spices or salt as a hostess gift to your next dinner party and you’ll definitely be invited again!

9. Bella By the Sea
Named after the owner’s English bulldog, Bella, this new store offers a bit of everything. Home décor, clothing, accessories, seasonal décor and lots and lots of handbags. I love the clutches with “34216” (Anna Maria’s zip code) beaded on the front – very cute and representing of the island. The shop owner brings in new items monthly so if you see something you like grab it because once it’s gone you may not see it again, which just adds to the charm and uniqueness.

10. Combing the Beach 😉

One of the best place to find souvenirs is the beach.  Shark’s teeth, shells, and sand dollars are my personal fav!!!

  • Does anyone remember the name of the shop that specialized in handmade beaded jewelry not far away from the shop that sells all the shells and other seaside themed gifts?

I bought a bracelet there several years ago and it broke today so I wanted to have it repaired or replaced if at all possible.

Any leads you can give me would be greatly appreciated. and thank you in advance for your prompt response.

  • Donna,

After doing a little digging, I believe you’re looking for “Creations by Lois”. It’s located at 5500 Marina Drive, with a big sign that has an “L” on it. Their phone number is 941-779-0779. I hope we were able to help!
