The South Florida Museum is a great attraction just a short drive from Anna Maria Island. Here you’ll find Florida history, paleontology and archaeology.

This museum also features a planetarium and small aquarium housing Snooty the Manatee. Snooty is the oldest living manatee in captivity. Catch great shows in this lovely and intimate planetarium.

You’re sure to love the full set of Mammoth fossils in the first gallery. As you continue to move on you’ll work your way into a large exhibit featuring Florida’s archaic native tribes. While there you’ll find their potter, jewelry, arrow heads and much more.

The second floor offers a medical history exhibit that is truly unique. There is also a great exhibit about Florida’s environmental attributes. This includes information about ravines of the Manatee River, Pine Uplands and Estuaries.

Find all of this great Florida information and more when you visit the South Florida Museum.
