Fishing the Gulf of Mexico near Anna Maria Island has been great this year. Gags are still in close, inside state water in the 4 to 7 mile range. Target hard bottom and ledges.
The water has warmed up, the bait is thick and the Kingfish are here in full force. Snapper and Amberjack are plentiful on your wrecks and springs.
WHAT’S BITING? Fishing The Gulf of Mexico
These day trips are averaging 150 Grey Snapper, a few Porgies, Sea Bass, little Red Groupers (for catch & release), King fish, Spotty, and a couple of Reef Sharks.
Lots of Spanish Mackerel are around the Anna Maria City Pier. Bring some Squid Spoons, Crappie Jigs, or cast net White Baits off the pier and grab some Shiners.
Free line Sabiki Rigs on the edge of the schools of bait to catch bigger feeders.
