Fishing anna maria island mid August

Fishing Anna Maria Island in mid August. The weather around here has been hot but not unbearable. Over the last few weeks we have had a land breeze in the morning and a sea breeze in the afternoon, making it more enjoyable.

Fishing Anna Maria Island in mid August.

After my last report I was hoping for more redfish to come around, and right after I wrote that report wouldn’t you know they showed up. Depending on tide and day we have been catching 10-50 redfish a trip. Fishing Anna Maria Island for Redfish give anglers a great fight being a better sport fish. They are one of my favorite fish to catch! When you find them and chum with live bait they usually eat every bait that hits the water. Most of the fish we are catching in 5-10 feet of water. Usually ranging from 18 inches to 30 inches, and these fish don’t give up. Catching schools of redfish from the mouth of the manatee river to Anna Maria Island. September and October are the best months to fish for redfish so don’t miss out on the action this fall.

Beyond Redfish

Fishing Anna Maria Island Snook remains strong and steady on good moving tides. Water temperature has come back up to 90 degrees and that’s hot. Most of the Snook will be fished for during the best tides with the strongest flow. Still being able to catch 10-30 a trip ranging from 20 inches to 35 inches. Snook season will open September 1st. There are still a lot of Snook on Anna Maria Island making their way back to shorelines of Tampa bay. Now is the time to book your trip to fish for slot size Snook 28 inches to 33 inches one per person per day.

Anna Maria Island Snapper fishing has still been a great for quick action and great table fare for clients looking to end a great day with a fish fry. We haven’t spent a lot of time targeting the snapper the last two weeks because most clients want to stick with the fast action of the redfish.

Don’t forget if you are in the Tampa bay Anna Maria island Sarasota longboat key give me a call to book your trip. If you need a place to stay check out islandreal.com.

Fishing Anna Maria Island Midsummer

Fishing Anna maria Island midsummer has still been a good one. The temperature has been hot but the bite has been hotter. So get ready!

Fishing Anna Maria Island Midsummer

Fishing Anna Maria Island starts with Bait early in the morning or in the middle of the day it doesn’t matter. Bait is everywhere from the mouth of the Manatee River to the beaches of Anna Maria Island. We are fishing with shiner or white day and you need a live-well before you start fishing to be able to Chum. If you don’t tell me a lot you won’t get those fish moving. I chum a lot to catch a mess of fish.

Snook

Snook fishing the past few weeks has been great! We are catching snook everywhere from the beaches of Anna Maria Island to almost every shoreline of Tampa Bay and Sarasota Bay. Snook have made a tremendous come back since the freeze of 2010.

Red Fish

Red fish fishing Anna Maria Island midsummer still is a little off for this area. Although we have still managed to catch a few on most charters. The last few weeks most of the redfish we are catching are 18 inches to 27 inches… “slot fish”.  I’m hoping we have some new schools of redfish show up in the next month because they are fun to catch.

The Trout and snapper bite has been excellent as well on Anna Maria Island. Most of the trout have been in 3 to 5 feet of water in Tampa Bay and the mouth of the Manatee River. Most of the trout we have been catching on sandy bottoms surrounding shallow grass. Trout are ranging from 17 inches to 23 inches. Snapper remains a staple for clients to take home since they are one of the most delicious fish of Tampa Bay to eat. Snapper that we are catching are 12 inches to 15 inches and it usually doesn’t take long to catch enough for dinner.

If you are in the Anna Maria Island, Bradenton, Tampa Bay, Sarasota, Longboat key area and looking for a place to stay please check out islandreal.com and  don’t forget to book your fishing trip with Captain Ryan.

Fishing Anna Maria Island in the Fall

Fishing Anna Maria Island in the fall can be really rewarding.  As fall gradually arrives and the water begins to cool,  fish begin their migration inshore to warmer waters.

Snook are headed toward creeks, rivers and bays. Redfish are targeting the flats for spawning.  You will find the tasty Pompano hiding in the deep grass flats with a bit of shrimp. Offshore, Grouper and Snapper can be found within 10 miles and even in the Bay.

King and Spanish mackerel, false albacore, tripletail and cobia should be good options in the coastal gulf as well.

You will not need a fishing license if you are fishing from a pier in Florida and Anna Maria offers a few places for you.

The Anna Maria City Pier is a great location.  It is currently heavily populated with bait fish. This provides excellent conditions for Mackerel, Ladyfish and Blue Runners.

Fishing Licenses are Required when Fishing in Florida

Don’t Forget! Fishing licenses are required. There is an exception if you are fishing on one of the many available fishing charters from Anna Maria Island.  Non-residents have the option to purchase 3 or 5-day licenses instead of an annual if they choose as well. Just visit http://myfwc.com/fishing/ for information and to purchase.

Bridges spanning Gulf passes are hot with the right equipment right now. Forget your fishing pole? There are a few places on the island that rent them such as Fun and More Rentals and Beach Bums. But no matter where you decide to fish this season, you are likely to be successful!

Anna Maria Island Florida City Pier Fishing Information

Are you looking for Anna Maria Island City Pier fishing information?

There are plenty of spots to fish on Anna Maria Island.  Many come to Anna Maria, Fl for the sun, the beach, and the fun.  Some come to Anna Maria for some serious fishing.  There are three primary areas one can fish while visiting Anna Maria Island.   Of course people fish on the island.  Off piers, off canals, and off bridges provide fair fishing.  Fishing in the Bay provides for more entertainment as well as more consistent results.  Finally, many go deep sea fishing into the Gulf of Mexico.

There are lots of spots to fish while staying on Anna Maria Island.  You can reserve a canal property and fish right off the canal although results are pretty inconsistent.  If you need some help finding a vacation rental be sure to visit Anna Maria Island’s leading vacation rental company for real time accurate on-line availability.

Many reserve canal front properties and bring down their boat and head out into the waters on their own.  Lastly you can pick up a canal vacation rental and RENT a boat for $800 – $1500 per week.  In fact, Island Real Estate of Anna Maria Island, Inc has a special offer that if you rent a canal property and a boat you will receive a 5% discount off the boat rental.

Fishing the Piers on Anna Maria Island

Fishing can also be had on the public pier in Anna Maria City or on the Rod and Reel pier.  The Rod and Reel pier charges a small fee to fish and will supply bait if needed.  Net fishing can be used up to a certain point on both piers and is clearly labeled.  There are fishing stations supplied with water if you need to cut up bait or big catch.  On my last visit to the public pier I saw a big one get away and one side was filled with young local boys fishing for shark.

I thought different about the boys fishing after I spoke to several other fishermen that were fishing for shark also.  One had caught a bull shark about an hour prior and threw him back because he was told it was not good eating.  Please note, both the Anna Maria City pier and the Rod and Reel pier are not young child friendly as there is no fence enclosing the pier.  Of course both piers in Anna Maria City can double for lunch or dinner also in the restaurants at the end of the pier.

Fishing Bradenton Beach Pier

Bradenton Beach has fishing on the pier also.  At the East end of Bridge street just past Anna Maria Oyster Bay you will find plenty of people fishing.  I have personally witnessed fish being caught at the end of the pier however they were all thrown back due to their size.  At the base of the pier there is a new bait shop that should help with what the fish are biting on.  The Bradenton pier is perfect for the whole family with convenient fishing pole holes all along the fence line.  The pier is fully fenced in so it is more child friendly than the piers in Anna Maria City.  The Bridge street pier also has several swings that the family can sit on and watch the fun.

Fishing The Bridges

I also see several people fishing on any one of the draw bridges off the island as well as some of the smaller bridges along the causeway.  I have never spoken to anyone regarding their success rate however I have seen individuals on several occasions pulling nets with fish in them.  Most of the folks I see on the bridges are pretty serious as the traffic passing by is not usually a visitors idea of fun.

Bay fishing is also known as backwater fishing and is less expensive than deep sea fishing.  A good deal of the catch must be returned to the waters due to size however it is best to discuss specifics with guides you interview.  Most Bay guides have smaller boats and can accommodate about 3-5 passengers however once again check with the experts.  Backwater fishing guides do not have a crew and the cost is about $400 for 1/2 a day.

Off Shore Fishing

Gulf Fishing also known is as deep sea fishing and provides for more action and usually more time on the boat.  Obviously the longer the tour, the deeper the fishing.  Gulf Fishing requires a crew and the boats are larger and typically can accommodate 4-12 passengers.

In addition, you can expect larger tackle to support larger game that should be caught.  Most deep sea captains guarantee entertainment but not the amount of fish they will catch.  They all abide by bag limits and are concerned about keeping the sea healthy since is supports their livelihood.  The cost for deep sea fishing is $650 – $1000 and usually the more passengers the less cost per passenger.  A successful catch will include grouper, snapper, and bigger game.

Booking Fishing Charters on Anna Maria Island

All captains suggest booking ahead of time and Christmas week normally books out one year in advance as well as other popular holiday weeks.  Make no mistakes, I am a beginner when it comes to fishing so I strongly suggest you call Anna Maria local captains for additional information.  If you have additional information please post comments below as our readership will appreciate any added information you can provide.
