Top 5 Rainy Day Activities

I know, a rainy day can put a damper on your beach vacation. Especially when you’re in “The Sunshine State”. Though when we start creeping into Summer and Hurricane season, rain chances start to rise for AMI. Especially in the afternoons. And while the rain typically lasts only a few hours until the sun is back our to play, it can still be discouraging to visitors. That is why we have put together a list of out top 5 activities to keep you occupied on a rainy day, check it out below!

Spa Day!

Spa days are the best days. Take advantage of the cruddy weather and head to one of the many spas located on Anna Maria Island (Acqua Aveda, Body & Sol, etc). Go get yourself a new hairstyle, get your nails done, a relaxing message, or all three! You deserve it.

Go to the Movies

The movies is always a good option for a day where the weather isn’t cooperating. Load up the family and head to Oakmont 8 theater in Bradenton. This is the closest movie theater to AMI (about a 20 minute car ride). Get some buttery popcorn, candy, and go enjoy some Hollywood entertainment.

Bowling!!

Next to going to the movies, bowling is always a good rainy day activity. try out your bowling skills at Bowlero in Bradenton (about a 20 minute car ride from the Island).

Red Barn Flea Market

Visiting the Red Barn Flea Market would definitely take up most of your rainy day. This place is like no other! there are over 600 flea market booths in this  145,000 sq.ft area. Though the outdoor portion might be closed, the indoor area is still worth the 30 minute drive. Check out our blog on the Red Barn for more details on this awesome market.

The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature

Formerly known as the South Florida Museum, the The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature is located in Downtown Bradenton. This is the place Snooty the Manatee, the oldest recorded Manatee, lived out his life until tragically passing away in 2017 at the impressive age of 69 years old. Though Snooty may not be around, the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature still rehabilitates manatees. Go say hello to some “sea cows”, experience their awesome digital full-dome planetarium theater, and visit all the other great exhibits they have! Fun for the whole family.
